A roof for your home or business is an important decision — and a hefty investment — that shouldn’t be chosen quickly. If you’re going to invest thousands of dollars, you need to understand exactly what you’re getting, the quality of the materials you’re choosing, and how long the final product should last.
At Florida Quality Roofing, we passionately believe that roofing quotes are far too important to be emailed to you or discussed over the phone.
To help you make this important decision, we ask to meet with our clients in person for at least 30 minutes. We go over the proposal, explain your options and answer any questions you have. We provide a comprehensive list of everything you need to know, from the roofing materials to the process to all warranty options.
We want to make sure you feel completely confident and know exactly what you’re getting when you choose Florida Quality Roofing.
Understanding our company
Florida Quality Roofing is a family-owned company, and we have worked hard to be the best at what we do. We won’t be the cheapest option for replacing or repairing your roof, so we want our clients to understand why we take quality so seriously.
In your proposal, you receive information about our licenses and insurances. We’re licensed in roofing and as a general contractor, and we hold over $2 million worth of liability insurance and workers compensation. We are members of the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association and have been recognized by the association with numerous S.T.A.R awards.
We are proud of our 4.9 stars on Google and all of our positive reviews on Yelp and Angie’s List, earned over 20+ years in the business. We also have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
A quality roof should last a minimum of 25 to 30 years. We can provide options for roofs that will last up to 50 years. For an investment that important, you need it done right and by a company you trust.
Understanding the options for roofing quotes
During the proposal meeting, we explain the various options based on the client’s requests and the needs of the property. We present the pros and cons of each roofing material. We discuss any restrictions the property might have due to homeowner association or local government rules.
We always bring the client samples, so you can touch and feel the materials we’re recommending.
We explain the price differences between the roofing quotes, and the quality you’ll get with each option. In many ways, roofing quotes are similar to buying a car. A car that costs $25,000 will be a dramatically different type of car from one that costs $100,000.
The same goes for roofs. You could go for the super budget-friendly option, but it won’t last as long as more quality options. We walk you through your choices and what they all mean.
We also explain the potential for changes in the initial quote due to unexpected variables. For instance, discovering termite damage once we open the roof up may increase the price, depending on the extent of the damage.
We do our best to mitigate these concerns. Because of our experience, most of our jobs come in at or below the initial quote.
Understanding the roofing process
Part of the proposal meeting is explaining the roofing process. We schedule a pre-construction meeting before any physical work begins to lay out the plan for protecting your property.
Before we go onto your roof, we bring plywood, plastic sheathing and tarps. We make sure to protect your pool, AC unit, driveway, garage door, entryway, windows and any other important areas on your property. We ensure that nothing will be damaged by falling debris, trucks or any other aspect of our work.
Next, we’ll go up on the roof and begin the actual tear-off phase. We will need access to the driveway at that point. Roofing is messy and loud, so we always advise homeowners to spend at least the first day or two away from the house, especially if you usually work from home.
Tear-off is done in stages because we never leave your roof exposed at any point. Whatever part of the roof we tear off, we cover that same day so that your roof is watertight before our crew leaves for the day.
After the tear-off process comes the underlayment. There are several options for this, and we’ll go over those choices in that initial consultation. The type of underlayment will depend on the materials you use for the roof, how long of a warranty you desire, and the slope of your roof.
Understanding warranties
A final roof quote includes choosing warranty options. We explain your options in depth during our in-person meeting.
Simply put, there are three kinds of warranties: 1) our company warranty for labor against leaks, 2) a product warranty against material defects, and 3) sometimes a manufacturer warranty that covers labor and materials.
Some products can be transferred to a second homeowner if you sell your house, but others cannot. If you choose the cheapest, most cost-effective option, the warranty ends with you.
If you’re planning on selling your home in the near future, you will not be able to transfer that warranty to the new owner. The new owner would have to agree to buy with the understanding that, yes, there is a new roof on the house, however, none of the products will retain their warranty. Higher tier warranties have the option to transfer to a new owner.
